Bulletin- Evaluation
The 5 stories we chose were:
A Japanese Language Learner
Argentina and Switzerland match
The Madeline Mcann search has reopened
Rita Ora
Suarez bit my finger
We chose the Japanese Language learner from the VLE because
when we were looking for the story, Taranpreet kept popping up. We chose the Argentina
and Switzerland match because it was very recent and people were talking about
it. We chose the Mcann story because it has been reopened and makes people
think about reality – little children need to be cautious as nobody is safe. We
chose the Rita Ora breaks up with Calvin Harris because of Justin Bieber story
because it makes sense to do a story which is famous to young people; using
popstars they know who are from Britain. ‘Suarez Bit My Finger’ was the funny
story, recapping over and incident which occurred during a World Cup match.
We broadcasted the story easily. We did it simply; first
starting with the Greenford Story as it opened the bulletin with something
which relates to everyone. The then did the Rita Ora story to let the people
know that this for young people – it grips in the people who are interested in
celeb gossip. After, we did the Mcann story to give them something serious and
educational. The sport story came next because it is a good way to educate
people in a fun manner – it gives them an insight of what is happening in the
world currently. Lastly, we finished with the funny story to wrap up on a high
relaxed note.
To make the script the ideal length; to fit 60 seconds, we
wrote about all the topics equally and then we slashed down and cut away the
bits that we didn’t need. It was easy to organise the script.
To make each story clear and understandable, we only did the
main line which was brief and then we gave 1-2 extra points to back it up to
make it clear. Our group made the
broadcast professional by saying it loud, clear and enthusiastic; like it was
prepared in a week – not a day.
In the group, I had the role of the journalist. I prepared
the script and fished some stories and put it together. I think our group
worked well; achieving the roles. I would say 4/5 (5 being the highest). To
work more effectively, we should’ve prepared and checked it the script over.
If this opportunity was supplied again, I would’ve taken out
the Mcan story and replaced it with the Malaysian Airline Flight Disappearance
because it is a new story which has been readdressed recently. Also, it is a worldwide investigation which mostly everyone knows. If I was just to improve it, then I would influence the presenter to be more enthusiastic and have a better understanding of everything - also I would've made him speak louder yet formal as it lacked slightly but it wasn't that bad; it just could use various improvements.
